Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals-Navasota is seeking to add an ACVS board-certified or eligible veterinarian with a strong interest in cooperative patient care and growing a business through excellent customer service and communication. We are replacing an established surgical/sports medicine position.

Who is Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals – Navasota?
BVEH – Navasota is one of three hospitals in Brazos Valley Veterinary Hospitals encompassing 20+ veterinarians and multiple specialists and specialties. With over 30 years in the greater Houston area, we have been successful building great client loyalty by focusing on helping people by treating horses. We are looking for a person to fit our collaborative culture and develop a long-term relationship. With multiple veterinarians working out of the hospital, we look to find the right balance of time in the hospital and out of the hospital. We encourage associates to be active in local, state, and national organizations and look to mentor students and young veterinarians.
Who do we serve?
With clients covering Houston to College Station, we function as a primary care and referral hospital, treating over 9000 horses last year. The practice features a full surgery suite, 2 recovery/induction stalls, climate-controlled ICU, sand arena, crushed gravel jogging areas and facilities to hospitalize 70+ patients. The hospital is supported by board-certified specialists in Internal Medicine, and Emergency/Critical Care, as well as, integrative medicine. We also support an out-patient sports medicine facility in North Houston and a large ambulatory sports medicine practice. We have dedicated hospital technicians and interns doing overnight treatments and monitoring. Dedicated technicians run gas and injectable anesthesia.
To our patients we offer full services including an on-site pharmacy, internal fixation equipment, laparoscopy equipment, diode lasers, standing and dynamic endoscopy, regenerative medicine equipment, rehabilitation equipment and on-site laboratory.
The caseload is seasonal and varies from week to week. In 2018 we performed 220 procedures under general anesthesia. Soft tissue and upper airway surgeries = 85. Orthopedic surgeries = 59. Ophthalmologic and cataract surgeries = 25. Colic surgery = 20. We performed over 3500 lameness examinations, 200 pre-purchase examinations, 200 regenerative medicine treatments, 350 shockwave treatments and 175 airway endoscopies.
Provide clinical expertise in the areas of; orthopedic, airway, and soft tissue surgeries; lameness and sports medicine, emergency and critical care; and ultrasonography.
Develop a relationship with the existing client base and growing the patient caseload.
Provide consultation to clients, industry, and private veterinarians.
Participate in emergency call duty.
Provide routine primary care to haul-in clients and limited ambulatory call to local ranches.
Assist in the training and mentoring of hospital interns and staff.
Participate in daily case rounds and monthly journal clubs.
Participate in regional and national equine and veterinary organizations and provide continuing education presentations and publications for veterinarians, veterinary students, and clients.
Occasional travel to racetracks, horse shows, and referring veterinary clinics to build rapport and establish relationships with clientele and referring veterinarians.

You must be invested in the long-term growth of our mission. We want a talented veterinarian able to work in a collaborative team with excellent communication and people skills. Not all cases will be lameness and surgery and all veterinarians are expected to work on all types of cases. A working knowledge and experience with western performance horses and sport horses is important. A strong work ethic, and a desire to make a difference is required.
Additional Salary Information: Salary is competitive and dependent on prior clinical experience and skill.
