Veterinary Neurology and Imaging of the Chesapeake (VNIoC) is an independent neurology/neurosurgery specialty clinic within the larger Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center, a multi-specialty referral center that is home to board-certified specialists in surgery, internal medicine, oncology, emergency-critical care, cardiology, rehabilitation and ophthalmology. VNIoC is located in Towson, MD, an upbeat suburb in the greater Baltimore region. We are seeking a motivated neurology/neurosurgery specialty intern to join our team of two neurologists, anesthetist, licensed veterinary technicians and other dedicated support staff. We provide world class diagnosis, treatment and care for over 600 patients a year. We are fully supported by facilities and equipment including a 1.5T MRI, Vimago CT, electrophysiology equipment and neurosurgical suite/equipment. This 12-month neurology specialty internship will begin in the first week of July 2020. We will provide training in medical/surgical neurology through rotations with the neurologists, MRI technologists, radiologists and other specialists as desired by the intern and supervising diplomate. Further training will be available through neurology journal club, ECC rounds, imaging rounds and neurology rounds.
The successful candidate will have completed a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship and have a strong desire to pursue a neurology/neurosurgery residency. The intern will be responsible for no more than 2 weekends per month emergency and in-clinic care. Three-day breaks will be available after the first 3 months of the internship to allow for professional development and residency application/interviews.
The Greater Baltimore region is home to a diverse and eclectic landscape that offers everything from rolling hills and horse farms to bustling city life and the delicious food scene of Baltimore City. Towson is a 20-minute drive from downtown Baltimore, and is itself a vibrant college town with small city vibes.
